Old 280te - strange knocking sound, almost like vibration - usually after 30 minutes of driving - usually going uphill or at high speeds. Comes and goes - depending on speed. Anti-roll bar bushings, perhaps? Exaust? (Had exaust replaced - but a very poor quality job done at QuickFix) Had rear shockers and gas spheres replaced at MB. Noise is still there. A bit puzzled. Please help.

The easy way to check to see if it is the exhaust, is to bang the end of pipe with your hand and see if you can reproduce the same sound or anything.
the anti roll bar and components would not cause a viabration. the prop shaft could also be the cause. If only happens after 30 mins maybe lose bafle in exhaust.

Thank you!
I suspect I may have to check both - it might be the exaust - the car is usually silent for the first 20-30 minutes. Pipes expand - something starts hitting/OR blowing...
(Actually it all started at the end of a very long drive from the Med to Calais - mind, the shockers were almost gone by then as well - the car was heavily overloaded) - perhaps it is the worn bushes after all...
Thanks, anyway!

Knocking noise/ new thread

Hi,
My C200K makes a slight knocking/rattling noise from the rear when going over speed humps or uneven surfaces. Noticed more when there are passengers in the rear.
Sounds a little like something floating about in the boot but nothing seen.

Any ideas please.
