Hi all

Early this morning, 4 armed people broke into my house with an attempt to steal the cars with the keys.

They gained access through a pvc door within 5 seconds. They set the alarm off which scared them off. Police arrived within 15 minutes and where provided with clear cctv footage from 3 angles.

I believe they did not succeed as the keys where locked away, however it does pose the question. If they where braver, they would have probably attempted to threaten the keys out of us.

Just a reminder, keys out of sight, alarm up to date and set and double lock every night!

Today we are enjoying a day at MB world for our anniversary celebrations, very impressed with my wife's driving of the c63s (very nice)

Sorry to here about this , sign of the times i am afraid.

I was contemplating installing CCTV around the perimeter of the house to act as a visual deterrent but it seems from your initial post that the crims dont give a toss about being filmed anymore.

Glad you are both ok ! I'm was just wondering if it's worth leaving a couple of "monkey" MB keys in plain view for occasions such as this , which might further delay any attempted theft ?

My wife suggested that as well. Would give us more time to react to an alarm.

Scumbags. Glad you're both ok and vehicles too. Don't suppose they'll be caught any time soon but hope they do.

.
Sorry to hear about that, glad you're all OK.

Also glad we moved away from London 10 years ago, after long time in Fitzrovia, Richmond and Barnet ...

Wow Alex. Really glad you're ok.
Time to scour eBay from some second hand keys to leave in an obvious place...

Quite a few years ago a friend of mine from Milton Keynes had his Cosworth stolen from his drive. We were talking about it the following day and he said to me "I have a funny feeling I know who may be involved in this. I know where he drinks so I am going down there tonight just in case he is there". When I saw him a few days later he said that sure enough the guy he suspected was involved was in the pub. Mick said he slid up beside him and said "If you value your life, make sure that my Cosworth is in my drive when I wake up to-morrow morning". :)

Sure enough it was in his drive the following morning, Mick was lucky. The lad had told him that these type of car thefts are targeted. This lad had previously targeted a Lamborghini and failed. But they would be back and they would get the car. Hope this is not true in your case Alex. :(

Used to have a C63...
Wonder if the Russians have any more of that nerve poison they used....

Hmmm... too much collateral risk!

Unless you could rig it in each car, triggered by unauthorised starts...

I'll get my drawing board out.

Shocking Alex! Glad to hear the family are OK, thats the main thing.
Most of these break ins for keys were reported from around the Birmingham area where one member lost his E63 last year and will not get another AMG after his experience.
The Autowatch Ghost can stop the car leaving your driveway should they get the key, but what will the gang do when the car won't start? That is the scary thought.
