Yes,
Bought the C280. No problems, well, rear offside electric window doesn't work (motor ok, just not lowering etc). Drives well, engine looks, sounds and responds fine.
No repairs necessary (yet) and I'm relatively confident of most repair jobs but sometimes don't have the time and a good local indie specialist would be a bonus should problems occur.
I've heard of one called Dammas I think, Chesterfield way? Don't know if anyone's used or heard of them?
I've also heard of one at Norton (in Sheffield) but can't remember the name.
There's no way I'd go near the dealers for a car of this aged unless forced screaming at gun point!
Having said that I used to get some parts from Lancasters when they were in the town centre. A couple of the lads there were really helpful and would try to give a discount on stuff when they could.
Cheers for any advice available.
I've been using Hutchinsons at Malin Bridge for about 6 years. It's a small back street garage, not an MB specialist, but they have looked after my cars admirably. Nothing is too much trouble, even when I turn up with a problem and no appointment (happens often). Pricing is extremely reasonable too.
And Mr Hutchinson Snr has (or maybe had, I haven't seen it in a while) an immaculate SL. Self-maintained, of course.

Over the years, I've had a few older cars with sticking windows, especially after periods of rain. It is probably totally the wrong thing to do (and the experts here will know better than me) but WD40 down the edges of the glass and on the runners, and then jiggling them up and down a bit seems to have done the trick every time. It did the other day when my old W124's were a bit reluctant to glide up and down properly.
