Changing the thermostat is a very simple job, and will need doing if your engine is not running at normal temp, in my case it should open at 87 degrees this will be stamped on the part. I replaced mine with an MB one part no 1102000515.
First remove the undertray and drain some coolant out ( i did this by undoing the bottom hose) then undo the 3 10mm bolts on the housing pic2.
Next lift of the housing and you will see the thermostat remove the rubber O ring then simply lift out the thermostat, Pic 3.
Then put in the new thermostat making sure the little hole is at the highest point, on the left, pic 4.
Then using a new O ring (do not use the old one) replace the housing cover which is the reverse of removing.
