The factory fitted reverse camera on my 2013 Viano W639 became intermittent then stopped working completely. Upon investigation I found that one of the pins in the connector on the camera had corroded and turned to powder. I have painstakingly reconstructed the cable and connector but still getting a black screen when I engage reverse. I have checked the continuity of my new cable and triple checked the wiring based on photos of the original but still not working.
Before I give up and presume the camera to be dead, is there any other reason why it might not be working? Could the ECU have disabled it when it started to fail and it needs resetting?
Long shot I know but does anyone have a wiring diagram for the harness? I've established that there are two connectors - a square three pin power connector and a round 2 pin Fakra connector for video. Interestingly, I'm getting +12v from one pin in the power connector when the ignition is on and -12v from the other pin when reverse is engaged. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't reverse polarity!
