Although my recently acquired W209 CLK is in theory better protected against rust than its W208 predecessor, I have been told that these too can succumb to the dreaded rust bug despite having galvanised panels. So prevention being better than cure I am looking at underbody protective treatments like Waxoyl and Lanoguard. Has anyone used these and is there one they can recommend over another?

I have used waxoyl. The lovely custard. Dilute with 25% white spirit and apply with a 5l garden sprayer. You will be smelling of custard for weeks.

Dinitrol do some good cavity wax sprays for the inside of the subframe as well as coatings for the exterior underside .

I use acf50 on a cls as it’s woeful quality compared to my 24 yr old Volvo.

Bilt Hamber make some good products and I think they have a decent product in this sector but I forget what it’s called.

Dynax UC - clear
Dynax UB - black
Dynax S50 - cavity wax

Brilliant stuff, better protection and easier to apply than Waxoyl

Having used Lanoguard, I think its the perfect snake-oil. Needs to be reapplied annually in reality to do 'something'; its a marketeers dream product.

One the initial (insane, admittedly) water repellence wears off (a few months) it seems to do very little.

After about 18 months my unused Lanoguard had gone all lumpy and clumpy in the container, meaning it could not be sprayed. Guess what, you would have to buy some more...

Anybody got any experience of Bosai's Anti-Rust Snowfoam?

Car Cleaning Guru did video about it... not seen it covered elsewhere.
