Yes the HHT was still in use to the end of the 210, but STAR can read it all.

Another update for you all.

Brakes were indeed full of air. With new fluid and a bleed they are magnificent, as designed.

However, I have been a total knob.
I was "sure" that I had read somewhere on the exacting internet that an iCarsoft i980 was the ideal tool for the intrepid 210 DIYer, so I bought one, having a 38 pin converter/OBD lead.

It's a lovely tool. Maybach owners are covered... but not 'us'. Only diesels 2004 onwards.

Just had delivery of one but not had the chance to plug it in yet....

Well, I could sell it which would pay for one STAR session:(.

Deflated now, but that's the normal default condition.:)

No, the model / variant has to be selected first before anything happens.

Mine's a 210.226. The nearest option was 211.226.:(

It's Carsoft 7.4 and the associated bits that I need, apparently.

In other news, it has been one step forward, two steps back. I'm too far in to give up now, tho'!

1 jacking point is heading towards it natural state. I needed a new welding kit anyway.
Steering rack's leaking slowly.

Dismal wear on the inner front tyres. I have corrected the camber with new AG springs and 5 pip 21 mm pads, which should help.

I have also got but not fitted a pair of LCAs and bottom ball joints as another counter-measure to tyre-wrecking... although I am not sure the LCA bushes would be worn out @ 136K... Anyone??

The 3.2 Diesel is a heavy lump up front so they could well be worn have you had pry bars on them to check movement its quite easy to check theres a "mercedes source" video on youtube shows howhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zITfDTYwmCg
If you do change them you will need to replace the Bolts with camber adjusting bolts and then have it set up properly by someone like chemix or wheels in motion ?

Spent 20 mins editing the above post, adding thee information.

Post was not allowed due to some admin. edit rights nonsense. So you'll both have to guess just how bad it's been.

Not seen it could you PM the details to me ? I'm interested as a fellow 210 owner mines at 198K now and the work is mounting up The Aircon condenser just failed merc quoted £322 EEK
and apparently theres a risk of breaking the steel to alloy male female Bolt connection at this age Altho I found an aircon parts supplier who will provide one for £69 . One Rear subframe Bush done ( the bad one ) other side still to do plus engine mounts and two rusty front wings along with the jacking point repair as a keeper I'll be looking to replace some rear brake pipes as well not looking forward to that as likely to be dropping the subframe to do it

I had the steering rack start to leak badly. Fitted a replacement from a known good car.

Then I changed the aft and a pan bolt sheared off. It was seized to the alloy spacer by electrolytic corrosion, not seized in the thread itself.

Not done any other work on it as yet...

Bad Luck with the pan nut I hear they do have a reputation for sticking Mine is due another ATF change I'll be nervous about the bolts but hopefully OK as they were all off 3 years ago have you got the rmains of the bolt out yet , if so how Drill + an easy out ?

It was 'lucky' that it sheared just below the bolt heat, not in the thread itself.

So I had to nibble away at the alloy spacer with a junior hacksaw (sump pan put back on, still too nervous to use a dremel and disc...) until enough was removed to separate the two bits.
The remaining bolt shank, not being seized in the thread, wound out easily with molegrips.

I've removed at least four 722.6 sumps before without this drama.

I must do an update for Myros and Bob on the up hill struggle, soon.

So did you 'bale out', along with Ciaran, Boyd?

you must, you must

Who's baling out? Not me.

A pre-Christmas visit to my mechie to fix a slow puncture ( leaky valve, replaced FOC) ended up with new rear calipers, new pads all around and a front discs skim, and brake fluid flush, which was due anyway. And they fixed the getting-ever-more-annoying slight clatter from a heatshield and replaced an exhaust mounting rubber.

All in all, not £500 I wanted to spend, but safety is safety is safety. It still goes like stink, and sounds like the coming of the apocalypse. Now to install those multi-contour seats Al sold me. Will they need coding in to the car with DAS or Star or Carsoft or something, and will I be able to drive it to wherever I might need to get that done once I've fitted and wired them in? ( anyone, but probably Malcolm)

Glad to hear it, Myros.

I had a though yesterday, which doubtless will be quickly dis-proven ... that it's ALL about the OM613.

Waits for the 210 E220cdi enthusiast to pipe up, show yerself!
