Satnav help please

I've recently bought an ML complete with satnav and command.

Now, I have to admit I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this system so I'm after some help.

Problem is I don't have the manual for the satnav/command unit so I'm a little lost.

OK, the car is a 2002 model.

Firstly, I've tried putting the CD into the unit but it Say's it can't read it, do I have a problem??

Secondly, and I'm sorry if I sound like a complete mong , what does the command unit actually do??

Any help you can give would be great, so many thanks

It's an origonal Mercedes CD, would I need a more up to date CD even if this is the one that came with the car??

Comand gives you Sat Nav, Cd, Fm/MW/LW, phone control, TV and DVD (optional extra's)

If the unit cannot read the Teleatlas disk then try a CD lens cleaner.

No I'm afraid. The Teleatlas CD must be in the Comand unit itself

OK, I'll get a lense cleaner.
