Ok so maybe i have just misunderstood the various posts regarding changing brake pads on SBC equiped cars but i have the impression that there is a complicated process that has to be followed so that the DIYer doesn't lose any fingers or rip their arm off in the process. But i have just watched a YT video by Tavarish where his complex process to disable SBC was to just unplug the electrical connection on the side of the pump! He then changed the brake pads without any drama. Is he right? Was he dicing with serious injury? Was he just lucky?

The official process disables the pump. Disconnecting will do the same.

The issue is that under some circumstances the pump will operate to 'preset the pump'.

If this occurs whilst the pads are out and the pump operates it could cause serious injury.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
You can disable in Star or unplug the SBC connector or as some do
take the keys out of ignition and close all the doors and replace the pads.

So long as a door isn't opened whilst the caliper pistons are pushed back :)

You can damage and jam valves in the SBC pump. Been there and done that myself and learned a valuable lesson. I always deactivate the pump personally.
