Both could be potential rot boxes but I would say the 124 was the better car, but for the money there asking I doubt nether are gonna any good..........

I've checked their MOT histories and the c240 has a better history.

Calum, you really should recognise that you are the least qualified person in the county to make that judgement...

Because this thread will end up with you choosing the least suitable car for your budget and capability to work on, ignoring all the advice you're given to get something far more reliable.

How about a Lancia Delta?

Buy both, then if one breaks you can drive the other one.

What happened to the Astra?

Way too little information there Calum.
Both cars should be bought on condition. That means serious checking for rust and mechanical issues.

I suppose it is possible that he has bought it, it has already fallen apart and he has moved on to something else.
It has been three days. Plenty of time for an SD1 to die.

What sorts of mechanical issues apply to the c240 and 230e respectively?

Probably something to do with asking for advice, getting it from a very highly respected indie...then ignoring it.

When did I ignore it or imply that I had ignored it though?

Cole, a respected indy gave you the opinion that neither car is likely to be any good at those prices, yet you are still going to buy one or the other and ignore his sound advice.
