Having used Krytox and Gummi thingy in the past, I now use silicon spray for all door seals, with superior results. In frosty conditions, they used to stick, but now - no problems.

Another use is to spray the pillars that the engine cover locates on, on most Mercs. These covers often are a pain to pull off, and one of mine split due to a hamfisted mechanic. I've tried all sorts of greases in the past, which worked fine for a while but always seemed to dry out. Silicon spray makes removing the plastic cover a doddle, and one spray a year is enough.
