Hi, what engine is in the 2005 SL 350 is it 112 or a 272, also what gearbox is a 7 speed or a 5 speed.
What year did they start putting 272 engines in them?

2005 was the change over year.
If you want to know what yours is look at the engine number. If it starts 112 its an M112 - if it starts 272 its and M272.

The 5g has a dispstick in the engine bay like the picture , the 7g is a fill from the sump jobby .

On the '55 if I change to manual it tells me what gear I am in. So cruise gently at 50, press the M button and see what number shows up. That will be top (highest) gear.

If you have the 5g , you have the advantage of being able to check your own ATF level .
