Good afternoon I hope you can help. Just put a deposit down on a 2003 SL350 on the understanding that it is a 3.7 ltr engine. Now i've got home Im not so sure, I did clarify with the salesman that it was a 3.7 but now im just not sure.

So my question is what year did they start putting 3.7 engines into the SL.

Thank you.

In 2003 it should have the M112 engine/3.7
Can he give you the VIN number?

Winter is coming... I've refitted the hard top to the 129!
As said by John the R230 is lovely. We have one as well as the r129 but I have to say of the two I prefer the 129 to drive - just feels more 'special' somehow....
Having chosen a 350 you've also dodged ABC most likely which should keep running costs lower.

I've never driven an R230 so I don't know what I'm missing, I was thinking of changing my R129 (320) for an E46 M3 but for the 10% of the time I feel the urge for a manual the SL has the M3 beat on looks hands down IMHO. So despite sinking a small fortune into my car, actually a large fortune for me, I'm now considering a 1998 face-lift SL500. I could actually get an R230 SL500 for somewhat less than the £9000 being asked for the car in question but which is the better car? :)

R230. But I'm biased as we have a 2003 SL350. Looks great from any angle. Our local Indy can fix anything and although its not a V8 it sounds great under load.
