I have replaced the vacuum pump on my 1995 220e and it works fine. I can now lock/open the car with the key (or the button on the dash) but the remote won't work. Have fitted new batteries. The light on the dash button is solid red. The guy at the shop says it needs re programming but too out of date to fix! Want's to fit a new burglar proof system. Is there no way I can fix with your help please? (apologies if, once again, I'm posting on the wrong page).

Have you checked the key in front of a camera where the IR beam can be seen

The check the sensor in the door handle, they can become dry soldered, other than that it becomes very hard.

I assume only the one door handle? Need to do some dismantling. But have shaken and banged both doors. The constant red light on the dash seems strange?

My problem is I do not know what system your car uses, we have different systems in the UK. You can pop up the next 3 numbers after 202 of the vin.

Good morning. The VIN is ADR2020226f178209 unit # 611392. Doesn't say but probably assembled in South Africa. I'm beginning to think I may have broken a wire when removing the pump and will check.

Have checked. Can't find any loose or broken wires. But the remotes went duff around the time I removed the vacuum pump.

Keys can be fixed in some cases.

This will be the switch inside the compartment lock, cleaning usually fixes them OK, they have to be removed to clean the microswitch.

Hi
When you say compartment lock are you referring to the boot area or the door , and is there a owners manual for the car would be interested to get my hands on one .

Thanks for feed back

In the boot you have the two pillars that the load cover locks into, the one on the right contains the micro switch that can play up sometimes. I have removed many and taken them apart to get to the micro switch, and then cleaned them and re fitted. If really bad the switch can be replaced, but this is soldered onto the PCB. By actually squirting the cleaner inside the switch most are OK again.

Hi Malc
Ive cleaned the switch and tested of the car it works refitted still getting that the cover is open and its not is this all to do with the central locking as I can't use the key fobs done all the checks you discussed from previous post

You could remove the pillar that contains the switch and get that fixed- some just short circuit the 2 wires to get the rood working, bust you must remember to close the cover.

Ive removed the switch cleaned internally and replaced I don't understand remove the pillar , I tested the switch its ok and I closed the cover ok but its still saying close cover so as per previous post what can it be and how does the pillar come in to it thats bolted down, this has only happened since the issue of the doors not opening or the boot not opening as previous posts

What do they mean by "the boot was going to ground" ?

To find the problem please measure the voltage on Pin 1 of the small (6 pin) connector on the PSE central locking pump.
This pin should be at (approx.) 12 Volts and go to (approx.) zero when you operate the opening handle.
If you can find this out we can move forward.
Attached is the schematic / wiring diagram, if it will help
Regards

When the mercedes tech said when they fitted the new lock they tried to open from the handle at the star showed a fault going to ground

and I wasn't their to witness as I would have asked and intervened

which fuses is for the boot are see photo of mine

There is only the fuse for the PSE pump, a yellow 20 amp fuse 171

I have a diagnostic chart that I can send you.

You release the 2 grey blocks complete with pipes.

Is there any green/blue algae in the pins on the pump connectors.

Yes I saw the pictures, just the 1 fuse for the pump.

As before if the pump is all good it will turn itself off in the event of any leaks.
