Can anyone point me to a list of what connects to the Left Side (Driver's side on a Left Hand Drive US spec car) Signal Acquisition Module (SAM) on a 2005 SL500 (R230). I am getting random errors and alarm triggers which I suspect is the SAM but it would help if I could get a list of what systems' signals it acquires.

Random non plausible are the same or water has got into the the CAN connections in the sills.

The normal way the SAM fails is that silly things like one light nay come on, and then go off after say 20 mins driving.
What messages are you getting, I can give more info later

Currently the Washer Fluid Low warning message is on permanently, although the fluid is full, the alarm has gone off twice, once while driving and once when parked but unlocked. The driver's seat keeps changing to another setting, the boot (trunk) sometimes won't lock itself, the mirrors once moved downwards into reverse parking mode (even though I do not have that setting set) and then didn't go back again. There have been one or two other random warning messages as well (side light bulb was one I seem to remember).

The low level water, part of the alarm and the lights are all on the SAM in the passenger side.

The boot locking and seat are all from the rear SAM

I think that you will need a STAR read out on this one, the SAM is nearly £200 and needs to be programmed.

It is the passenger side SAM that fails in Rain/hot weather as steam finds its way up the ABC cable duct into the SAM in the fuse box.

Thanks, Television. Is there a list of which items are monitored by which SAM? Seems like there might be more than one problem which I guess points either to some other common fault or a multiple corruption of the SAM programming? I will get my garage to do a STAR test.

The 2 front SAMs are joined to the rear SAM so quite hard, STAR could say front passenger and rear SAM faulty, but the chance of the rear SAM being faulty is almost nil.

I have checked on the 2 items you said and this is passenger SAM, the one that usually goes through the reasons I said.

Get the read out and we can look at it from there
