SL55 AMG insurance

Iam having difficulty finding any of the club advertised insurers who will take this on a classic policy so does anyone have any thoughts? thanks

Thanks but Peter Best would only treat a Mercedes over 20 yrs old as classic which seems to be the case with a few so looking for someone more enlightened .

Footman James will not do my 2003 SL but they do a Jag S-type and BMW 3 series for a friend both 2001!

I think some put a cut off at 15 years old.

Both really as i have the R230 which is on a normal policy but it is taking up 12 years worth of NCD that i would like to use elsewhere and i only did 2000 miles this year. I also have an R107 which is currently on a Footman James policy but i would like them together. To complicate things a little it would be good if my grey import Subaru Imprezza could be on a classic policy but probably a bit too much to ask!

When we got the 230 LV mirrored the NCD off one of our other cars onto the r230 so giving us maximum NCD on both.

I've had a good experience with Hastings Direct for my (low >5000 annual mileage) ML63 AMG (Group 50 insurance) parked in street in Central London with £350 excess. Max NCB but this year's premium £38 per month. Think it will increase on renewal but even so, pretty good value.

Saga is providng me with a 5,000 miles per year with protected no claims for under £300 for my 2003 SL500 versus a £500+ quote from Chris Knott. Comparable to last year when Chris Knott was also twice the price despite Rebecca's efforts.

Saga was near £450 this year for me so i am now with Admiral at £330. Chris Knott couldn't get anywhere near.

My insurance came down this year, £365 with Hastings and I'm not limited on mileage either.
You will struggle to get classic insurance because its not deemed old enough yet.

I have both the SL 500 (1999) and the modded E55 with Admiral on one of their multi car policies. Wife's car on there too. Very happy with the price, though I am on my way to being an old git now !!.
