I had the rests done on mine, and two ATF on time, no difference!
I guess all cars are different to some respect, but I believe the 'feature' is fairly common.
maybe when cold the presures for changes are at top end of design and there is sudden ,undamped oil flows causing jerky shifts and as oil warms press drops a little and less oil banging on change valves,solenoids, and smoother shifts
