My W170 SLK230 brakes make a very annoying squeel, sometimes a violent screech when gently slowing down.

Earlier this year I had the front pads and discs changed, along with the rear discs. From day one the fronts squeeled so I got the garage to replace the new front pads with original MB ones which solved the problem. Then the rears started squeeling so again I took it back and asked for them to be changed for OEM items, which solved the problem.

However 6k miles later and it's back. It's worse after slowing from prolonged high speed driving when the brakes are hot - at roundabouts on fast dual carriageways slowing down is an extremely noisy affair.

However the brakes work perfectly and do not make much noise under hard braking.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks,

Richard

Normally brake squeal is due to incorrect greasing of the rear of the pads and shims

Shamfer the edge of the pads and re-grease the mounting points.
