Hi all

New CL has an issue with the softclose.

On the drivers door, it pulls it in, but keeps pulling for approx 10 seconds where It then stops pulling the door and puts the windows back.

At the end of this the door is fully closed but it's not right.

I assume there are two switches in the door latch, one that detects the presence of the door and one that detects its fully closed.

It does not seem that I can check these on star. Any ideas?

OK follow up. Drivers door issue is a leak. Somewhere. Required pressure is not being built.

Same with bootlid.

Passenger door is an issue with the microswitch. That one will be fun...

Easiest way to find a leak? Smoke test?

Well, I can't hear any leaks in the cabin when it's pulling the door, so it must be in the boot near the pump or possibly the hinge.

I had a leak on the boot hinge of one of my w220s before, I didn’t replace the whole pipe, I cut it and sleeved over it.

Many thanks, I will have a play with my vape and a bit of hose to see if I can find the leak. Its not an audible one at least.

Sounds similar to mine, it was just pot luck that I found it right away! Maybe try some things on the air circuit with the boot lid open to see if you can hear anything in the boot.

Ill get my wife to lock me in the boot :)

As the car has been repainted, its more likely somebody has left out some tiny o rings etc.

Could always try pulling the fuse then stick it back in Alex unless you’re completely sure there’s an air leak

So I had a play today. Not quite sure what is happening. I have codes for both front doors and the trunk lid exceeding closing time.

With the boot open, I can actuate the soft close mechanism via the latch and it pulls in. I can hear the pump running, it runs for 10+ seconds then times out. I cannot hear any leaks. I will need to test the lines the with a vac tester to see if the door actuators have a tiny leak.

All soft close functions work, but the pump runs much longer than it should.

All central locking/multi contour etc all works fine.

Do the lumbar supports work in both front seats?

Yes, all other PSE functions are 100%

Soft close works as well, just the pump runs for much longer after the door/boot lid has been "sucked in".

Ill pull a vac on the lines and see if they hold.

Boot lid and passenger door elements are vac tight.

Pump runs for 10 seconds when closing the boot which is a bit odd considering no leak.

Drivers door has a very small leak somewhere, highly suspect it's in the actuator knowing my luck.

How about in the door hinge where the cables normally crack?

Haven't checked where the leak would be in the drivers door circuit yet, but Im pretty sure the reason the PSE pump runs constantly is that the pressure switch has an internal leak:

This does not move when the pump runs so that explains why the pump runs until timeout on all functions (apart from central locking)

I was thinking system pressure sensor, and then see you’ve found a stuck pressure switch. Wonder if it can be freed with some lube, or has it failed electrically?

No but it was a private sale.

Thing is, it all still works fine, it's just the pump runs on for a while each time you use it. The pse master says that the pump is probably worn and that the pressure switch is a red herring.
