I may have done a silly thing.
I have a 1997 w202 c230 and I pulled out the fuse for the interior lights, central locking and alarm to check if that was why my central locking wasn't working. It wasn't.
But now when I put the fuse back in, the alarm sounds and they only way I seem to be able to disable it is by removing the fuse again, leaving me not only with the original problem of no central locking, but also no interior lights.
Does anyone know how to disable/reset the alarm system when the remote key fob and central locking both don't work?
The only type of central locking that does work is the button on the dash.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks. But this is the handbook for the newer 1999 model. I have the older 1997 model. I've tried locking and unlocking with the key multiple times and it doesn't work.

Unfortunately this didn't work either. The key fob is faulty and isn't getting a proper connection to the batteries when it's all together in the case. I think I'll have to get it professionally repaired so I can use it to reset the alarm. Unless anyone knows any way to reset it without the remote key fob?
At the moment I'm having to pop the bonnet and put the fuse in, setting oof the alarm in the process, then start the car, then take the fuse back out to turn the alarm off, then close the fuse box and the bonnet. Every time i start the car. It's very annouing.

you could disconnect the alarm until the key fob is repaired. If you can locate it, its just a plug on side of alarm unit.
