Unless it's a E55, most 210's here are worth very little. A spring perch 'incident' like this will see most scrapped.
£400 a side is thus a bit much.
A decent welder will have the area suitable plated using scrap bin material before welding the new perch on.

Hi, yes I thought £2OO a side is a bit much to fix? Maybe it isn't ? It does look like most e3OOTD Mercs have been scrapped due to rust & suspension front perch problems; I've carried on fixing this one due to the great engine it has! Going to ask welder to plate it; I believe it has to be spot on though or I can affect the drive?

Fortunately the spring perch is only responsible for ride height and not geometry. As long as the spring sits in the same place height wise and more or less the same place longitudinally it should be fine.

Just gotta get the right pad to fit spring, there are different ones?
Yes there are. Look at the one on the other side. On the side of the pad will be some raised knobs (or burls). Count teh burls and get the same number of burls. Let me know how many you count and I'll get you the part number.

I've got a spare AG one you can have.
Shine a torch on the good side, and you can see or feel the pips.

Sorry, Avantgarde (the lower sport option). IIRC, they've '2 pips'.
Depends on spec....
Its a lot more complex than just Elegance/Avantgarde etc.
Thats why there are 11 different springs and 5 different pads.

2 common options on a 210 with either a 606 or 613 engine.
Bet they'll be 2 pip...

I replaced my drivers side perch last summer and Friday just gone replaced the passenger side as it had let go and the spring had fell out during the night !!!.
The drivers side done last summer is rock solid and will outlast the rest of the car.
I riveted the perch on using about 20 stainless steel 5mm diameter by 10mm depth purchased off the shelf from Halfords.
I do not have access to a welder and this was the best option for me, I already have the internal spring compressor but I did need to go and purchase a large concertina type rivit gun to put the rivets in.
£26 for perch and £18 for rivets and £36 for rivet gun.
