sprinter edc light

hi there all my 2005 311 cdi recently has edc light on . it first happened a cpl of days ago in the really cold frosty weather (about - 7 i think). the edc light came on but continued to drive. then it started stalling on deceleration and restarts every time .then it got worse it stalled every 500 m or so . got home anyway after about 50 restarts. it still starts and ticks over but edc light on all the time now.drained the filter but cannot replace due to holiday season. put a small drop of petrol in tank just in case it was frozen diesel but no change . is this a terminal prob or just a weather related issue. any help would be appreciated.

sorry forgot to mention that it runs for a few seconds after turning off ignition

have checked everything obvious and nothing showing will try to invrstigate as much as possible

Sounds like an injector problem to me. That's what it was with mine. Sadly Mercedes sold me nasty injectors which stuck and caused it to overfuel. Naturally they denied all knowledge, since then it cracked a piston, and is pretty much scrap, i've gone back to an old model with the 2.9 engine.

ty cnics for that i hope its not injectors or anything serious a si will be fleeced here by merc for repairs . will have to wait out the holidays anyway to see if i can get it sorted when all back to work.will let u all know what transpires.
