Car not turning over so I call the AA, they replaced the 15 fuse with 20 yesterday. AA said it's possible the starter motor is on it's way out. Today the same fuse blew and I replaced with 25

I took it to the local garage they said it's not the starter motor they reckon it's somewhere between the fuse box and the starter motor.
They plugged a machine onto the car as the engine management light appeared on the dashand the reading from the computer was not clear, said something similar to check many components.
Mechanic thinks it's not the starter motor it's something electrical with a car as the fuse has blown twice already.

what do you think ?

2005 CL500.
Putting bigger fuses in is not the answer...it will cause a fire.

Yes, it is electrical, couldn't be anything else.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Remove the starter motor and have it tested.

Starter motor is goosed and jamming, which is why its blowing the fuse, it has its own trigger wire the purple wire coming from the front SAM to the starter. The reason its there is because the starter forms part of the drive authorisation system and needs to be switched by the SAM, which is in effect another ECU in the link. If it wasn't fused and the starter did fail, it would likely melt the front SAM as well.

Common problem on the W203 that your all makes garage obviously doesnt know about.

As Nairac said to go from a 15A to a 25A is sorry to say it but completely daft.

You are begging for a fire! And your insurance wouldnt pay out either, if they discovered you did this.
Likewise if a passenger got fried in it, you could be done for criminal negligence.

Just have a long think, and work out why different components have different fuse ratings, and a clue could be why different components have different thickness wires.

If the fuse doesnt blow because you increased its rating, you could get to a point the wires burn off the plastic covering and short to the body causing a big spark ... fire!

All I can suggest is to solder a piece of copper strip in place of the fuse some might say its not right but it would help heat the car ..........for a short while.
