Is their a way of making it thicker, it's in a w204 220 and it's just too thin:confused: if I need to remove it can anybody recc a good place in/ near Glasgow that could do it..

My last car was a Bmw and in comparison the mb wheel feels like an old school bus steering wheel
So any tips on increasing girth lol:-

I got my CLS wheel recovered by Royal Steering wheels for exactly the same reason. It took around 10 days to turn it around and it feels much better.

They also flattened the bottom of it.

I purchased a wheel from Ebay and sent that to Royal Steering wheels and on its return It was swapped with the original so I was not without a car whilst the wheel was away.

I contacted a few local "trimmers" but RSW came recommended from numerous sources so it was a no brainer really.

It was £120 ish including the postage around 18 months ago , I got Merparts (Port Glasgow) to swap it over (0.5h labour - £35) ) as the car was still under warranty so didn't fancy breaking anything although having see how simple it was then I would have a go at it myself.

You can unscrew the air bag in complete safety. Just leave the key out for ½ hour, and do not turn on the ignition with the air bag unplugged.

That price was just the retrim and the return postage.

Replacing the wheel and airbag with a pukka AMG one would have cost almost £500 secondhand, if I could have sourced one as they only made the face-lifted CLS 63 for two years .

If you have any doubts regarding the quality of workmanship then pop over and have a look.

I too had my own one refurbished and modified.

Sent mine off to a company in Germany. Got the perforated leather and thumb grips as well as a flat bottom. They also give you the option of what colour stitching you like, I went for grey as I had grey leather seats.
