3 days ago my wife's A160 had a flat battery, I put the battery on the Ctek for at least 12 hours on the first night, Ctek showed fully charged in the AM, on the second night I left the battery on the Ctek again for 12 hours or more, again Ctek showed fully charged.

My wife used the car for a longish journey today (with no doubt some stop starts for 'essential' shopping on the way).

Upon her return I checked the battery with a multimeter, 12.47v, is this battery on the way out?

I assume the battery is the original in her 2011 car.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Yep looks like its under voltage.

Engine running it should be 13.7v to 14.7v

Engine off 12.6v to 13.2v

Probably a sulphated cell @12.4v 75% charge state

Yep. As above. Change it at the first opportunity.
Check Tayna or give Grangemouth Mercedes a call and mention the forum. They do great deals for forum members.

Not sure of the protocols observed on here but I don't want to appear to be promoting or criticising parts sellers, happy to share info on PM's.

I bought a 70Ah battery for the wife's A160 diesel.

(OEM battery price = £108.00 on a discount offer).

A well known parts retailer offered a lifetime guarantee for the battery (for as long as I own the car). Edit Note: not an OEM battery.

Could have bought the same battery for £0.77 less with another seller, but only 3 year warranty.

Easy decision for me, 77p difference for lifetime guarantee as opposed to 3 year warranty on the other.

Total cost paid = £56.60.

I bet someone can better this, but right now I am happy :).

On that basis, my new replacement battery is knackered. After a few day of non useage it can read 12.4V!
Charge it or drive it and once it settled it would show 12.6V

I reckon its due to their crazy downgrade from a 95AH to 92AH.
With a current drain of 30 mA thats 2.1Ah in 3 days. I.e. if they had left it at 95Ah it would where it is after 3 days.
