I own a W221 2006 that was imported from Japan. The navi does not except to dowload Europe map DVD, the watch is not possible to set correctly, the FM scale stops at 90 Mhz.
There are no Connections in the glovebox, and the Bluetooth Works only for the phone. (Iphone, no music)
Is it possible to buy a Europe Map that can be installed With the JP NTG3 ?

If not, is it a plug and play job, to replace the JP comand With a European Becker NTG3 comand ? (Connections the same).
If replaced With the Europe Version, is it possible to add DAB+ in some way ?

DAB is a separate module in the boot.... you can fit the facelift module ..... you need to have updated firmware to birdseye (3d maps mod).... which I expect will only go on the European unit.

DAB about 100 quid, plus a loom and some fun talking the seats out (or try and aftermarket bodge)
the NTG 3 units are still pricey secondhand, you could try and get an NTG 3.5 package with the later better screen and the 3.5 head unit but your talking about 800 to 1K... and u still need the module in the boot for the DAB

You can swap the units but its not just plug and play. You will need coding and once it is all in then yes you can add DAB (in2digi)

Stick a decent Pioneer / Kenwood / Alpine unit in it, better functionality and much more modern

If changed to another Component, The navi, phone, display and other details that are using the Comand to function would not be functioning.

I have bought an European comand NTG3, and will change the unit. However, the wiring of the Japanese cars are a bit different than the Europe Version. Are there anybody at this forum that has the wiring diagrams for these cars ?

    Well he shouldnt have!

Good luck finding the Japanese version. Ive got all the Mercedes wiring diagrams for ECE and USA as part of WIS. Ive never seen the Japanese ones in there which fits in with the fact that we cannot lookup Japanese VIN numbers in EPC either.

Cant fit the 3.5 as you wont be able to get a key for the map as its obtained via VIN

    ummm

if it was updated in a donor car first?

or you just pay a polish guy 20 quid to run a key gen and sent the code by email. BM been like that for more than 5 years and still working

or like you do on a BM, you temporarily write in later info. The car doesn't know any better, then it'll pull in the later software. Then you change back to std... although when did that on my 335 it was changing the production build date not chassis number
