The oil level in the sump has risen

merc c200cdi since my last oil change the level in the sump has risen by 2lts in 4500miles. when i check the oil level elecronially it registers ok any ideas please

I do not quite follow this, what was the level when you last checked it, did you add some oil.

Check the oil to see if smells of diesel, could be fuel lift pump leaking into the sump and raising the oil level, the only trouble if it is this, you could end up with a run away engine if the solution is to high.

How are you measuring the 2 litre increase?

If there really has been an increase, it could be coolant in the oil !

Problem with the dpf regen cycle.

Dpf regens cause fuel to be washed down into the sump, its just the way they roll. Normally it isn't a major issue - its just crap we have to put up with. unless the regens occur too often due to some kind of fault with the dpf. There is a code stored in the ecu for this oil high due to dpf regens fault, you could get the codes read for that.
