Thoughts on piano / wooden trim? Practical?

Looking seriously at purchase of this car. Interior is silk beige Arturo leather.

Just can’t decide about the piano/wooden gloss trim console or the grey ash.

The latter obviously more practical but doesn’t look as good imho but wondering does the piano or wooden gloss scratch easy and pick up fingerprints constantly? The wooden gloss does seem very light. What are user experiences?

Thanks

Al

Our CL has piano black trim and it does mark easily. If it's going to be a daily driver I would be inclined to choose something else unless you're the very careful type. Scratched up it will look pretty awful!

The wooden trim is coated in two-pack lacquer and is REALLY tough.

Thanks. It does look good and suits the light interior. Do you have any pics?

I had the piano black in conjunction with grey/light grey leather in my S350. 4.25 years and 82k miles, not a mark on it. Even with 2 girlies who put makeup everywhere, it remained spotless.

Not a big fan of wood trim in lighter colours tbh

Sadly not to hand. I have the walnut burr in my CL, 18 years old and unmarked.

I had an S3 with piano black and aside from finger marks it was fine.
Even they just wiped off.
Our 230 was converted to Gloss black trim by Malcolm. Seems fine but if it does mark it's easy to touch up again.

Malcolm used two pack black lacquer right on top of the wood iirc? If so it’s just as tough as the original.

Never had piano black in a Merc, just in my A6 which was awful and almost impossible to not scratch!
Got black ash in my 63 and that works very well, not sure on the light woods but maybe I’m too conservative...like the look when its not my car

Both finishes are exactly the same, both finished with a lacquered gloss, They both will be easily marked but not scratched and will be easily cleaned, The black will show finger marks etc more easily as the black is basically a more mirrored image.
Visible scratches can be easily polished out with T cut or fine polishing compound, and can be waxed same as the paintwork on your car.

I would think the black would show every spec of dust. But perhaps you keep your cars cleaner than I do mine.
