Becky fancied a change as she’s done 65,000 miles in our S211 E320CDi since 2018. Mileage had reached 168k, so just run in ;) Lovely car, hope I don’t regret moving on :)

Bought her a facelift E250CDi with 70k on it. Seems pretty good.

Will the absence of two cylinders be noticed? I always think the S211 was elegant in its last facelift guise, whereas the S212 is a bit... Well, angular. I am happy with that - it's imposing!

I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of the om651, but they aren’t too bad in the later cars with some of the bugs ironed out. Came up cheap in the trade, and beggars can’t be choosers. It’s not for me to drive, and it’s pokey enough for Becky. It’s the new tech she wants. It had DAB and HDD music register, Bluetooth streaming, LED lights. Just a bit more modern. Nothing wrong with the old car. I love the old thing :)

You know how to fix these things so sounds like a win win situation. I like the fact it’s an estate.

For some unknown reason, we just seem to get so attached to the old 211 :)
I’d still have my 210 if the the bodywork wasn’t so prone to rust :(. I also liked my 211, never wanted a 212, loved my 213 but I’d not want one out of warranty

Yes, still have pleasant memories of the S124 the IL6 petrol engine was sublime as was the S210 with the IL6 diesel that car drove extremely well a terrific all-rounder would have bought another if they still made them. The McPherson front strut suspension takes away from the S212 but never the less a very reliable car well screwed together. I didn’t buy the S211 probably because the 210 was so good I kept it as long as I could what a brilliant engine the OM613 was if wel maintained mine just felt run-in when I parted with the car at 100k miles

2014 639 Viano- 651, 5sp Auto. 2009 S211- 646, 5sp Auto.
I'm not telling Mrs Me, as I think her 211 (646, 2.1 CDI) serves admirably.
She would love me to swap it for a more modern looking 212.

I am interested in your thoughts on how the 212 wins the day, or not.
Tbh I'm no fan of the 651, I have that in the Viano. It's too complicated, and the 646 in the 211 is superior.

Old 211 has the om648. It’s a formidable power unit. It looks like the old car is sold. Neighbour couldn’t get after me fast enough to ask if I was going to sell it. He’d told me he was having it way before we’d even got anywhere near talking about the price. *rubs hands together…*

I agree. My wife has a 651 too. I'm in the 642 :p. I see loads with galactic miles but they re soo rattley without much character
