I had mine done the week I bought it. I paid about £230 at the local dealer. Being new to MB and not having time to shop around for recommended indies I just did it. As already said elsewhere, gearbox service £220 new box thousands. No brainer. Now I'd probably do it myself if I had a garage. Great detailed instructions on this site.

Just wanted to add. I drive clk 220 5 speed auto. Trans fluid changed at 37.5k .current mileage 140k and gear box smooth as silk. Changing atf fluid on high mileage cars can bring on unwanted problems...apparently.

I paid 210 at my indy, if you go to MB as mentioned in my previous post, they will say its sealed and doesnt need doing (its only sealed from the service sheet) - then just demand they do it.

A million and one posts here about doing it and plenty of vids on youtube.

Changing oil can never bring unwanted problems, oil oil that loses its lurication and cooling ability and becomes burnt is more likely to cause problems.
