Has anyone heard of these guys?

    https://www.turner-race-developments.co.uk/

For £299 I can have 310bhp and 700nm. Was asked about the ECU, because two types, one that can be mapped from the OBD and one where the ECU has to be removed. I advised that it the one that takes longer.
For this bring someone in to upload the map.
Not sure how they guarantee the final figures without a rolling road?

In simple terms they can't guarantee it.
Maps take a couple of different forms:
Tuning boxes - where the cars standard ECU is 'fooled' into doing things differently to what it would normally. Sometimes these can also have a piggy back ECU which overrides some of the original ECU operations (LPG systems commonly use the latter).
Generic maps - A map file produced on one car which is then wound back a little to make it compatible with most similar vehicles.
Live maps - where the map file is generated purely for that car based on the way it behaves on the rolling road.

That will be a generic map where the original work was done on a similar car and then copied to be used on other cars. The claimed figures will be what the original car managed.

Ok thanks. If they didn't have to remove ECU they reckon it is a 30 mins job.

Mapping by the odb take 30-45 minutes depending on how prepared the tuner is, that will be a generic map though. There is a middle potion between a RR map and generic and is what I had on the 270, map is removed from my car sent to a tuner adjusted and the returned to the car, slightly better than a generic map as is will take into account the changes your ecu has already applied to its base map. As said not as good as a live map but just another option.

A remap with rolling road specific to the car makes sense. Maybe I'm being too precious with my 350 but, I wasn't left feeling too convinced. the 310bhp sounds good, but MSL did say they would be happy running 295-300.
Just found the 10mins from my house appealing.

Also, the auto box in the MB was slated, and even the twin clutch in the new AMG's was miles behind that of the VAG.

They also do this when they don't have an original map for the software version

Yep, John (big Fish) had to do that on my 647, I was more than happy with the results :D

This is the info from another tuner that will upload a file. I'm thinking that there are a few using the same file as the figures are all the same. Makes me wonder how GAD can give you an extra 40nm, with the same BHP increase.

Those figures just look too exact to be true, not saying not possible just a little too generic for my liking

It's a generic map, I've seen three tuners with the same figures now, probably created by someone that doesn't even drive. Thing is they could quote anything, without a rolling road it doesn't matter.

Exactly that, probably written and looked at the changes they made and think that the increases they put on the map exactly equate to what is output and in reality they don't

You cannot map a OM642 engine without removing the ECU

If a tuner doesn't know this then walk away!!!!

Capra's car can't, need to bypass the inbuilt protection, only way is to bench the ECU

I thought the same, he had two options available, in the end I told him it had to be removed.

They have cracked the inbuilt protection on these hence being able to go via odb, I was chatting to acid about mine the other week and he admitted that they managed to crack it about 2-3 months ago.

They kept that quite!!!!!! I watched Anthony from GAD split mine apart when he mapped it

It’s a recent development, I think he said it was done initially by a tuner in Germany about 9 months ago

Lol, probably not, just means its easier to complete with less risk of esd damage
