Not at all offended by you or daveenty... and mega impressed by the power increase achieved with the Octavia!

If Malcolm comes up with something good and cheap in the way of M113 tuning I'll have to at least look at it as I have the same engine. I'll probably stay boringly standard though - it always seems powerful enough to me.

Yes they are fast enough, but just a tiny bit more, I will know next Friday:D:D

From all I have learn't you can get a re map that gives a fixed small increase for a couple of hundred, to get virtually the same thing on a rolling road cost 3x that figure for near enough the same result. I do know that its hard to trust those that have it done, but any increase is an increase.

The power increase is largely due to VAG using the same basic engine in the Ocatvia and Golf GTi as they do in the Audi S3 and Golf R.

So it was a case of swap the turbo for the same turbo on the S3 and then replace the down pipe for a 3" Turbo Back Exhaust. That equated for £2.5k for those two bits and enabled the power to be achieved.

The rest was:

KW V1 Suspension £860
EVOMS CAI £300
345mm Brakes £250 (got lucky with those and was in the right place at the right time)
Audi S3 Intercooler £150 (same again got lucky)
Neuspeed Hi Flow Turbo Discharge and Intercooler pipes £220
REVO Technik TSI ECU Remap £650.

I fitted everything myself bar the suspension and remap (so maybe add £1k overall for fitting if you're not mechanically minded)

All this was done once I'd put 1.5k miles on the car as wanted to ensure no build issues before I took on the extra power.

I did a couple of cosmetic bits later on but that was on the interior and didn't add anything power wise.

I've seen some get over 400bhp/400lbft running daft map settings with the same/similar mods. But having driven them I preferred the way mine drove and ultimately they were no quicker (much to their dismay :D)

Well on my 113, if I get 307hp, that must be better than 306hp :D

Just come back from having a re map at MBS, for normal driving you do not feel much difference, for a quick take off it is quicker, and the same applies say at 60 to 70mph, so at higher RPM there is more go to it, I did not get a chance to try the mid speeds, but if you wind it up it is much quicker, it changes down easily at 50mph with little throttle. All in all very pleased :D:D

Just pottering around the car is unchanged.

Nice one Malcolm, to me, that's how a good map should feel and it shouldn't detract from normal driving at all, just make it smoother.

Mine's undergoing the same thing as I'm writing this, though a little more involved unfortunately. Weistec map taken out, then a completely new custom one written for it to compensate for a couple of little mods I've been playing with. :D

Malcolm, may I ask the impolite question- what was the damage for the remap?

You will have to ring Colin on this one, its many hundreds of £££ cheaper than what I was quoted from the big boys. OK with the big boys it all goes on the rolling road, I can not see the point on this small gain, if my car was like Dave's 63 and every time you visit you grab another 100hp and 200Nm, then that is something else. There are firms doing it locally for £175 ish

That was quick getting it in Malcolm!
My local guy is booked months ahead... (But then he is good and he's cheap too).
