hello all,
I have gone through the pains of replacing the oil cooler seals... however when I got to the valley the oil cooler and the block is squeaky clean. Not only that but the existing seals are the updated purple ones.
Oil and gunk stains are on the transmission but nothing on the engine block.
Put everything back together and now the leak got even worse. At startup when the engine is cold it’s litterlly ****ing oil, but once the engine is up to temperature the leak stops. I am going through a quart of oil every 3 days or so.

Could it be the pedestal that supports the turbo? Part#6420961745 should I replace the thing? Or just clean it well and make sure it sits right.
Thanks for any input.

Presumably you fitted new gaskets to both ends when you had it removed? The bottom locates with a tiny dowel sleeve. You sure you had it located correctly? Either way it sounds like the turbo is coming off again

As UB has posted, if you haven't replaced the gaskets, they are probably leaking, the middle pedestal gasket has crush rings around the oil galleries. Also check the bolts for correct torque.

I have torqued both bolts to 55nm, but the elbow exhaust outlet that hooks to the hot side wouldn’t fit perfectly. I had to loosen them and muscle it to match and retorque to 55nm again.
I think that’s where I screwed up.
I have ordered a new set of gaskets, bolts and a new pedestal. I just need y’alls help on the proper procedure to install the turbo.
I have searched high and low but everyone seems to just plug and play and everything works! ‍♂️♂️

Also for the life of me I can’t remember where this sensor hooks up. A google search turns up “End position switch sensor”... whatever that means. The car runs fine without it aside from the leak. No engine light.

Thank you all for the help, and excuse my dumbass for not documenting prior to dismantling.

Looks like a camshaft position sensor to me. You might have found your oil leak there

I have found the answer, just in case anyone else stumble upon this.
This part is the swirl flap sensor. It tells the ecu if the swirl flaps are open or in the closed position. It’s a fail/safe measure.
Here is where it hooks up:
