Try Uniroyal Rainsport , quite popular on here and good value . Check Camskills and Tyreleader for some good prices to compare with your local fitters prices

I have the Rainsport 2's and can't complain about them. Progressive tyre with pretty good all round grip and braking.

Had mine fited at Protyre in Portsmouth. they offered me Conti's which I have in the past found to be quite noisy. Went with Assy 3's in the end which proved a lot quieter and just as grippy in both 18 inch and 19 inch profiles (changed wheels).

I put 2 Contis on mine in November, 2 more will go on in the spring. General consensus on here suggests Rainsport 2. I suspect it's a value for money choice.

I had Conti's on my SLK changed to Rainsports. Haven't noticed any loss of grip, & they are wearing well.
My E350CDI still has Conti's on the rear, & Rainsports on the front. Again no loss of grip & wearing well.
Value for money was the mover & I am very pleased with Rainsports.

Not Rainsport 2, Rainsport 3 are the tyre of choice. I have them fitted to 3 of my 4 cars, the 4th wearing Goodyear Assymetric 2s (which I seriously don't rate at all as soon as the temperature drops).
RS3s on the otherhand are superb but wear comparatively quickly (but are cheap as chips).

Mine are 3's, thought 2's were the newest, but it is 3's.

may i thank all of you for valued opinions as to a new set of tires (tyres) as it happens a clean bill of health on the M O T my misfortune is that as an 82 year old the only things i can do is drive it, change the oil filter at 3 monthly intervals, i have an inert gas in my tires like nitrous oxide.(laughing gas) apparently it keeps an even pressure on all of the tires, the wife is on the prowl many thanks ROGER.

Nitrogen in the tyres a great marketing ploy to extract more folding from the consumer , I use an ~78% Nitrogen mix in my tyres I find it stable, good value and readily available.
Unless they fitted the wheel in a nitrogen environment then the gas inside the tyre is already contaminated by air and not 100% nitrogen. The nitrogen molecule is ever so slightly larger than oxygen so you tyres will be infinitesimally slower at dropping in pressure. Having said that if you drive Formula 1 for a living having nitrogen in your tyres is probably the way forward for you.

isn't nitrogen an aviation thing?
Not sure about that, I try and avoid flying as it can upset the passengers, although the kids used to enjoy it...:D

78% Nitrogen is the average for dry air, they'll be trying to charge you (and your tyres) for 100% nitrogen for greater stability...
Don't spend the £ and buy an overpriced coffee for the management or stick it in a charity box instead.

Do Costco still use Nitrogen? They used to do & fit horrible green valve caps. First time they fitted them to my car I just went back in with green caps in hand & asked for my black caps back :D Next visit to Costco tyre bay I mentioned that they were fitting black caps. Apparently green caps weren't popular.
