Hi,
I put this message in the wanted section but didnt have any response, so I thought if i put it in this section.

I have just bought a ML 320cdi sport on a 57 plate. The car is fantastic in all ways apart from the battery which is under the drivers seat, the battery is just exposed, there is nothing over the top of it, and as i have never taken any notice of them before I cant think what goes over the top. So I am looking for what ever it is that covers the battery, or even a part number or correct name of what ever it is so I can try and source one.
Thank you

It is formed piece of plastic trim.

Once you do locate one - do not be surprised if you have to unbolt the seat to fit it.

No idea how MB designed the battery to be be in such a silly place.

so if you need to replace the battery you would have to remove the seat to remove the cover to get at the battery? my god that sounds like a bad design?

It gets worse.......many people end up having to cut the carpet (it is serated in readiness). I managed without cutting it.

Essentially, you do have to remove the seat. I extracted rear bolts but only loosened front and used the full seat tilt capability to get access.

Hi N11xxy!
Did you ever get the plastic cover that you needed for your car?
If not, I have one for sale, it is a pre-owned but in perfect condition... save a few little surface scratches!
I note you are in Preston, so would be no problem posting it to you. Call 07973800784

By the way, lots of people say about how difficult it is to get to the battery compartment and you have to take the seat out etc etc. That's complete tosh... Yes, it's nowhere near as easy as if it's under the bonnet, but it's not so get used to it, place the seat to the furthest forward possible and going in from the back door is easiest.
