We did the Stelvio a couple of years ago. It was a little disappointing as there was a lot of traffic - including cyclists, tractors and trucks. There are other passes etc that offer better driving roads.
That’s a shame. The Stelvio is a jaw dropping road when you’re able to appreciate it.

Off to
If I come across any highlights I'll let you know buddy . I'm in Spain in October so I'll have to be back by then :D

Headed to Valencia, via the Milau Viaduct in February. Have not sorted my route yet but it will give the SL a good run. +- 3000 miles round trip.

Got as far as laying the maps out on the table and marking off Alpine passes to try and get a few on the route . Taking a petrol CLK convertible
This got me thinking if I need to buy any type of certificates for different countries for various emissions zones ? Can anyone think of anything else I need for the following countries .
1 France , already have Crit Air stickers , and a sanef toll tags
2 Germany ?
3 Switzerland , I know about the motorway Vignette and will buy one there if necessary
4 Austria ?
5 Italy ? (May go over the border to the Selvio pass )
6 Belgium ?

That sounds like a plan, Weighty !!! :) How old and how many miles hat the CLK done to date? Looking forward to updates and comments on the trip !!! Last long drive I did was moving a Renault Truck and Trailer from Amman in Jordan, to Reibel in Brusselles, still remember the tunnels in Austria...not as much clearance as you might think when you meet something as big as your vehicle coming in the opposite direction....one in particular was 17 Klms long.. was very glad to literally see "The Light at the end of the Tunnel !!! " :D Good Luck on the trip.

That's the second weighty in a week (not from you ) I'll start to get a complex :D . The old girl has done about 65k at the moment , this trip will probably add another 2k . Be due another oil and filter change when I get home .

The timmelsjoch pass is very good going from austria to italy if you're in that area, a lot quieter than the stelvio. The Furka, Grimsel, Susten and Nufenen loop in switzerland is a great way to spend a day.

Just watch yourself in the fast lane of the unrestricted stretches of the Autobahns. Even at 155mph, there are really fast cars that come up on you surprisingly quickly. I found myself having to pull over quite often and you need to make allowance (slow down enough) for the much slower cars in the lanes to your right.

and watch out in front when the lorry just pulls out into the overtaking lane in from of you without even thinking - at 155+ things happen pretty fast. I had 6 minutes at full throttle coming back from the Black Forest in 2016 with an M3 in front and a 911 behind.

And don't forget that quite a lot of the Autobahn does actually speed restrictions - particularly in urban areas.

...its a big hobby for most drivers on the continent to just pull out regardless of the speed anyone else is doing... above 120 (real numbers not kph ) you will find trying to miss a car doing 65 in 100 metres is hard work
