This is an interesting point. I’ve seen a news report showing the TRUMP DISRESPECTS WIDOW OF DEAD SOLDIER news articles as they appeared around the world. Every single one reported a slightly different story, almost exactly like what you’d expect to see when a rumour becomes Chinese whispers that do their round of the press room...

(But not the way that portrays).
It seems Titanic had had a fire in a coalbunker for several weeks and the heat from the fire changed the mechanical properties of the steel making it brittle. When it hit the iceberg the steel fractured rather than bend hence causing the irreversible flooding of the ship.
