Please advise if possible

Just replaced the car battery, connected back up and attempted to start. Not even accepting the key fob. Is there a sequence I have to do in order for it to be accepted or is there something I've missed.
Cheers
Mark

It should just work. I changed my E Class battery last week and it just fired straight up. You have connected it the correct way and all the terminals are tight? The battery is charged?

Currently assuming it's fully charged as its a new battery. Yes connections on tight and the correct way round. I've done nothing different, it's just not accepting the key.

Probably a dud as above see if the interior light comes on or put a meter across the battery. Do you still have the old one reconnect that if so to check

Just because the battery is new , you don't know how long it's been on the shelf before you bourght it . It should have a date of manufacture stamp on one of the terminals . I'd go with it needs charging first

Thanks chaps
Managed to get it started with jump leads, key now accepted ,left it running for a while and a run home, turned it off and back on again. No joy.
Going with the concept of it being a dud!
Will be straight back to the place in the morning as I've been trying to sort it for most of the day, not best pleased.
Thanks again for your replies

Dud new batteries are quite normal, had one just a couple of years ago on the wife's car
