I checked - it says "Choose from one of the four options below" - there are five
I then went to enter my car - it doesn't exist.
The only bit that's accurate is "Vehicle Tax Going Up" - and that was a given.

Mine should be £140 , but some genius has decided that if i work hard and buy a decent "newish" car then i should pay another £310 in a "luxury" tax on top of the "actual" emissions tax so still £450 for me to drive 3k miles a year in a 3.0L petrol car.

    Brilliant.

My little old thing is £180 for just 4,000 miles. Still makes it expensive when you add the annual service. Just might skip it this April ;)

I assume my ickle CLA will be £140. Won't be paying it until October anyway.

£315 .. really doesn't seem too bad for a stinky old oil burner.

You’ll soon make it up once the 5 years is up, my 435i is £230 and will stay at that rate, assuming you will keep the vehicle long term

The increases for those who will be facing the increases will be between £15 and £65.

What's the betting the treasury does it again next year on some sort of emissions escalator?

It will be a keeper for the foreseeable as i just cant think what will give me the same "bang for my buck" regarding the age / performance / price / insurance calculations.

It may have a "mate" shortly in the form of a SUV , just havn`t made my mind up as to which one - SWB Shogun / ML / X5

They do tick a lot of boxes, very pleased with mine nothing else like them on the road BM have done a very good job. The only negative for me are the Bridgestone runflats which on 19in wheels are too hard and unforgiving. I’ll change them out in a years time for something that rides better and probably won’t be runflats. My son’s 213 saloon runs on 20in wheels with Goodyear F1 runflat tyres fitted and the ride is very good so I may even change to those although I’m quite happy to go with non runflats. Interestingly enough my insurer wasn’t the slightest bit interested in whether I ran the car with runflats or not which surprised me

I still feel that we should have toll roads and no "road tax"

If the true reasoning for road tax banding is an emmissions penalty then adding to fuel seems fairest.
But it's not it's just another revenue for the State,
but it would help sell some yellow vests.
