So after trying my best to keep her going, my beloved W210 has given up. The internal water leak was never found even after dismantling everything except the block. Head Gasket and oil cooler were both changed with no luck. Luckily it was all done myself so there was no major costs and just a few parts. I came to the sad decision that it's time to let it go as the only alternative was an engine change but this is not feasible on a 17 year old car that will rust. Annoyingly when the HG was done and everything cleaned out, the car ran like it should, kicking down and flying down the road with no black smoke. I will be scrapping it next week unless anyone wants it cheap as it still runs and drives and has plenty usable parts - some new.

I need a car to keep mobile as I have so many hospital/clinic appointments that I cannot do without one. So after browsing in general I found a car that I have always wanted and with certain options that I have not seen together in a long time (if at all) on these cars. I wanted a facelift with B&O, ACC and heated rears. The bonus was the sunroof, sub 100k miles and ceramic brakes although not sure if I wanted the latter due to replacement costs. The car wasn't my fav colour but can't complain, I simply love it! Just awaiting for the V5 so I can put my plate on it

Unlike some, I won't be leaving the forum (can't get rid of me that easily!) and will continue to chip in where I can

Guessed what it is yet? Here's a few pics

Love the new car, I bet a 5.2 V10 sounds awesome. Welcome to the Audi side. ;)

Sad on the demise but long live the king! That V10 is a seriously underrated beast of an engine...
I suspect you will have no issue making your appointments on time
As JB says though...wow ceramic brakes £££££££ :D

A friend of mine had an Audi S8 a few years back and he proclaimed it was the best car he had ever driven !!. :)

Commiserations on the loss of the W210 but well done on replacing it with the S8. I went to my first forum GTG in one of those as I'd just sold my W211 E55. This was a few years ago now, certainly over 10, and the meet was at MB Tech at Warrington. :)

The Audi was an awesome car and I ran it for over 2 years without issues. The V10 is lovely and smooth and the thing just seems to waft along albeit quickly. I'd have probably kept it longer were it not for the dealership I was using at the time. As for the brakes, don't worry too much about them. Under normal driving they'll last an awful long time.

Thanks for the kind comments. Yes I am hoping they will not need replacing for a very very long time lol. At 92k miles, they should have plenty left on them yet and seeing as I only do less than 3k a year, they should last me many years yet!

@daveenty I have wanted one for such a long time and was worried it may not be comfortable enough for daily use. However, it just sails along and is very comfortable.

Lovely car, health to enjoy.

Now, this 210...what exactly is the problem?

Thanks Naraic.

Water mixing with the oil. Oil cooler changed, head gasket done even though both seemed ok. Literally losing a couple of litres every few days. Dipstick all milky. ATF is clean and correct level. Water pump changed.

Thanks Bob, I'll pass.

Moving to the country in 3 weeks and the extension (built in 1834) needs a little work so a CL and a 911 will not do...need an estate also.
