Hello, I'm new here.
Not sure if I'm in the right place, but I wondered if anyone has any experience of installing an M103 5 speed manual engine into a W123 CE? The Coupe has a 240d (??!!) with a blown head gasket and I've been offered an M103 from a W126300SE (so many numbers and letters..). Anyway, before I say yes I thought I'd see if anyone had experience of fitting one, and see what I'm up against.

Many thanks in advance,

Ron

I use to have a w123 with a M103 engine and manual gearbox, it was a nice car to drive, But if you do it you have to do it because you enjoy the project, it would be easier as above to just repair the car.

It's only a head gasket to replace and head to skim... a day's straight work.

Replacing power train... a month?

That conversion with a NA OM616 has 72 bhp.
0-60 in 17 seconds.
That's really back to the 60's. And hard to reconcile...

I have one that I'd like to keep OEM...but my Mrs would think something major had failed.
