W124 E320 Coupe - 1994
Hi all,

I've had my lovely 1994 E320 coupe for nearly 6 months now and there are a few things I really want to get up to scratch, but... being a bit lazy I was wondering if it could all be taken care of in one place in one trip, what do you think??

Problems:

Rust around jacking points and sills - needs to be repaired and sealed
Corrosion on brake and fuel lines - needs to be cleaned and sealed
Damaged bumper - small crack and a scuff, needs to be repaired (this can be done separately...)

So, is this the kind of work a body shop should take on, or a mechanic? Or both??

Any suggestions for London or near-London garages/workshops would be really welcome as well, as would costs if anyone has had this work done before.

Thanks,

Alex

I use three different people for those jobs. I'd have the brake pipes done at the next service. You don't really want to pay mechanic rates to weld jacking points and the bumper repairs are probably best done by a smart repairer than a bodyshop - as you live in London it'll probably need doing again in 6 months.

Maybe contact someone who commissions this kind of work all the time?

Hi Alex464, I sympathise with your issues, I also have great 1993 E320 with rust around the jacking points. This week I have removed all of the trim panels, removed all the loose rust and treated with rust converter, primer coat and under seal.... To stop it getting worse. This has left holes in bodywork around jacking points but hopefully have slowed down further rust.
Now I need a recommended welder in West Berkshire who can repair the sills for me.
