I have a W202 C280 '99 model with 205000km on the clock. I recently replaced the MAF with amazing results. The car perfoms so much better, like I turbo charged the motor. I have a new problem though. Since making the change I now have a sulphur like smell from the exhaust. I have been told that this is from the CAT and that I should remove it and replace with a length of pipe. I feel that the CAT is more than likely blocked after this milage and removal will further improve performance and fuel consumption. Does anyone have any comments or experience in this regard? Will there be any adverse effects if I do this?

Hi,
You can replace the CAT if you like with a straight pipe, but it will fail the next MOT.
Is the smell similar to rotten eggs? This is quite normal if that is the case.
