Just about to do a diff oil change and want to check that 1 litre of Castrol Syntrax Universal Plus 75W90 will do the trick. Checks out on the 235.8 list.

Not sure about the W203, though 75W-85 is a recommendation on the Fuchs site (all I use on my 190E) so you're not far out with the spec.

The capacity on my W201 is actually 1.1 litres, which is frustrating really as it's supplied in litre containers so I ended up with more than necessary but at least it got a good flush. :)

I normally check on the opie oils site if I'm comparing specs . As ^ I have used Fuchs syntopoid 75/85 FE on both my cars bourght from Opie oils . Because of the quantity it comes in , first I bourght 2 litres to do my car , which left me with 0.8L remaining so I bought another 1L so I could do the other car , I still then had 0.7L left so I bourght another 1L to do first one again after 25K miles .....and I've still got a healthy 0.5L sat in the garage which keeps telling me to by another 1L so I can use it up with another change .......WHEN will it end

Thanks for that. I think 1litre will do it as it's unlikely the car will be level enough for it all to drain out.

Thanks. I'll go with 1 litre and see how it goes.

Oldspanner do remove the filler plug first , and then the drain plug . Its been known that the filler plugs stick . And if it sticks you wont get new oil in .

One litre is not enough. You either need buy a second litre or you need to put some of the old stuff back in to fill to level !

Thanks for that tip, I have seen people caught out by that. It won't happen to me today though, I went out to prepare the tools sure I had a 14mm Allen key but after searching all 4 tool boxes it's the only size missing! Ebay to the rescue.
Must change my name to Thought I had Old Spanners.

Yes most take over 1 litre more like 1.1 .. By the way i had to take mine in to my local garage i had all the keys but not the 14mm. So they did it under my supervision .He went right to the drain plug .Remember what i said ,just what i told him about the drain plug was to take it out last... You will have a shock when you see rhe colour of the oil .Thats if its been in for some time.

I'll do that as I found out I don't have a 14mm allen socket, so I've time to buy another litre. Thanks.

Oldspanners you need to do the job on the flat ..
Yes, I don't have a lift so I'll be doing it with two ramps and axel stands but it's never perfectly level.
Thanks.

Thanks very much indeed, most kind but I'm in France.
If you ever need help on the continent I should be equipped in a few days.
Thanks again.
PS A tip for looking for metal in the oil. I put a welding magnet inside a plastic bag and leave it in the drained oil for a few minutes and you find out just what's come out.

You may need an impact socket and 2 foot socket bar. These plugs are generally very tight.

Thanks, I've a 3/4in drive breaker bar and an air impact wrench should it be that tight. Hope the old arms are still up to the required torque setting.

Oil changed no problem. It took longer to get the car jacked up and on stands than the actual change.
3/4in drive ratchet made easy work of removing the bungs and an investment of €6 for a Siverline 500ml syringe made refilling the oil without it running up to your elbow not only possible but almost pleasurable!
But annoyingly it did take 1.1 litres to fill, so the extra bottle was needed. Thanks for that info.
The old oil wasn't too bad after 60K miles and no sign of any ferrous metal on the welding magnet I left in it for a few hours.
Next, a brake fluid flush.
