The reason for the thread tape is to stop them drawing air. Just a single or double wrap is sufficient.
As it's drawing air outside the system it doesn't matter as long as the fluid has been changed and the nipple tightened before the air enters the system.

Just means you can't see if any air in the lines has been removed - important if you've had the hydraulic system apart.

True, but the ultimate test is pedal travel and feel.

Lostkiwi been playing with cars fo 50 plus years, and i have never used the tape..But it could stop ithe threads from going rusty ..

40 years for me.... but its not required unless using a suction pump and then only if you want to see there is no air in the fluid being sucked through.

Lostkiwi I understand now what you are talking about . To suck the old fluid out, you wrap the bleed screw threads ,. replace it then no air will enter the system. ..
