Having replaced one track rod end and one suspension arm at the front because of noticeable play I realise I should have done a bit more so will fit the matching arm and track rod end the other side.

This came to light when I took it in to be tracked. I also realised the inner tie rod threads were so bad it made it quite hard to set the tracking accurately so will change both.

Any advice or dodges changing the threaded tie rods?

Do I need new clips for the inner end of the rack gaiter. Assume you need a huge spanner for the roundy nut thing that bolts the tie rod to the rack?

Tie rod tools.JPG Re the tool...

Ordered from these guys who were doing a twin pack of one like you linked OS and an alternative because when you're lying under the car on a Sat am good to have choices in case one isn't ideal...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-2x-Universal-Tie-Rod-Wrench-33mm-42mm-Removal-Tool/253474225013?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

The one like the type you linked looks fine and fits snugly to the tie rod ends... the alternative is such a tight fit it would need a little filing to get on. Hope the tool on the right does the trick

That should do the job with a suitable 1/2 sqr drive extension and T bar or ratchet.
The other axial tools are a lot dearer;

Just a bit of feedback. Once the car was on axle stands and with a closer look I realised the tie rod threads were better than I'd initially thought. Spend ten mins a side with wire brush and oil until they would run freely just using fingers.

Don't begrudge having bought the tool and new tie rods as sods law would be if not bought they'd have been needed.
