Wish I could point it out. I know where it is on my car (Jeep with 722.6) but I doubt it will help you too much.

Also, I would first look at why you don't have a speedometer indication. Fix that if you haven't and then see what happens with the transmission.

2002 A160,W210 E430 estate and a king of kings.... W215 CL600 BI TURBO
my car that I am parting out will be going to the grave in the next week or so, its a 2000 E430 avant-garde wagon, has a great engine and trans still in her and all brakes and suspension present, also has AMG replica 5 spoke wheels with 2 good tyres. car was driving fabulous at nearly 190000 miles but sadly the body is falling apart. the interior has been sold along with the steering column, steering wheel, front bumper and AMG side skirts but the rolling car complete with engine, transmission, suspension, wheels, brakes, glass, and all engine ancillaries is here for the taking at £295 for anyone who can turn up with a trailer ... grab your self a bargain for a massive parts stash.

Still at a complete loss with this, has anyone got a PIN out diagram for the gearbox and traction/abs/ESP ECU?

I have autodata but it only lists wiring diagrams for ASR not the later cars with ESP like mine..

The clue to your issue is the speedo doesn't work which suggests there is no speed signal.
The speed signal is generated from the ABS sensors and distributed around the car to other modules, one of which is the car audio system...
Try removing the radio and trying it. A botched aftermarket install has been known to cause issues with speed signals.

This may be of use too (details where to pick up the speed signal):
Mercedes Benz E240 (E200 - 430, Mod.99) 1999 In the engine compartment, left hand side, near the windscreen, there is a black box (with airconditioning sticker on it). Remove the cover. At the ESP- Module (or ASR-Module), there are 2 big connectors and 1 small one. The left one carries the signal at Green/white. The signal can be found too, in the passenger's footwell (left hand drive vehicle): green/white cable (in harness with green double-cable) behind toeboard. OR: 2 lone green/black cables, soldered together at their ends, behind vertical cover of passenger'

Yes I completely agree with the speed signal comments.

The car has the standard satnav/phone/enetertainment system in as far as I can see it hasnt been touched, so I doubt it's that..

I have an oscilloscope so want to check the signal at the ESP module, I had thought though that the signal came in via all 4 sensors to this point, not just one green/white wire?
