Can you change the centre caps on alloy wheels without removing the wheels? My car is fitted with Rucha 5-spoke diamond-cut alloys (7.5J ET42 225-55 R16 95W) and I want to fit modern 75mm (3in) centre caps.

Depends if you want to keep the old ones or not?
If not, punch a screwdriver through the centre of them and lever them off.
I’ve tried a double sided VHB tape to pull them off but the tape is a beggar to get off afterwards.
The centre caps are so cheap on ebay i’d Just punch them through and out (just did one this week)

A small screwdriver gets the eBay ones out of the wheel without any damage , just push it in the gap and lever it out

It’s not really an effort to remove the wheels and it gives you a chance to look around and see that all’s good.

Hi. I managed to prize the centre caps off with a very thin steel craft knife and fitted the new caps. Thanks for the help.

Well done you have more patience than I !
That said on mine there is virtually no space
Just an excuse - I’ve no patience and actually like destroying things really!:eek::rolleyes::p

It's too dark to take a picture now - I'll do it tomorrow and post it then. I replaced the three-point star caps with the later Mercedes-Benz ones. When I levered the caps off the three-pointed star came away from the cap leaving a centre hole that I used to prize off the cap. The stars will just glue back if ever i want to refit them. Pictures tomorrow will explain better.

If you have the black ones with the chrome star on, breaking the star of reveals a small hole. Use a small screwdriver and voila! It comes off. You will destroy them though and won't be reusable...
