I recently had a lower ball joint replaced on my e class to cure the onset of a light rattle, sods law now it sounds like the other one is starting, so my question today to thoes that know is.....I have the ability and tools to remove the lower wishbone, and have access to a hydraulic press, is there anyother 'special' tools/ adaptor i would need to push out and push in the new joint ?
Also on the top arm there is a small joint halfway along which connects the top arm to the anti-roll bar, i belive some folks refer to it a 'lollipop'?
anyway while this joint is available as a spare part an indi advised me that its impossible to change and would need to replace the whole top arm assembly, is that true ?
I just feel like just replacing all of the joints up front and be done with it
Any feedback from thoes who have actually replaced the joints would be most welcome, and what if any special press tools i may need to have
many thanks

This is not normally my line but as you did not receive answer I will try and help.

As I read it you only replace the pivot if the rubber boot is damaged,, so that we are talking about the same thing I have printed off a work sheet for you.

Please PM me with your Email address

If you would like any other papers I will send them to you

I had a slight rattle over uneven surfaces, could not find any play in the joints so I decided to change both the bottom ball joint and anti roll bar swivel joint yesterday.
It turned out to be beggar, not having any special tools other than hydraulic bench press.
I removed the bottom arm from the vehicle, but had difficulties with pressing out the old joint as the size of the hub top link is so long I could not get it into my press, so I knocked the old joint out with a suitable sized socket. The new joint pressed back into the hub without any issues, the small joint for the anti roll bar connection really took some pushing out, even with heating the arm with a hot air gun, again pressed back in without issues, all in all not a bad job for the first time except that everything is so 'loctited' up that its had work to remove anything, I really ache today. Must be getting old.
One tip is really heat up the three fixings that hold the splash guard to the hub, they are quite soft you will either snap the off or tear the insides of them out if you don’t heat them up to loosen the Loctite first
All is quiet now, even with the radio off, the bottom joint was approx £40 and the small anti roll joint was about £19 , both from the dealer
