Hi again,

regarding the batteries in the FOB, is this statement correct ? If i see the red LED flash on the key when pressing one of the buttons the batteries need replacing ? It flashes upon release after momentary pressing one of the three buttons.

Jan, you are correct on the lamps, it is a beam cutoff shutter that you move with the Tourist Mode lever.

Hello,

I am new to the W211 so I wonder if someone can help me out with a couple of things.

1) RHD/LHD change on Xenon Headlights
I have read somewhere the EU w211 have the ability to change the headlight with some switch (mechanical or electrical idk) located somewhere on the headlight assembly itself. Is that correct and if yes does anybody have a picture of that switch ?

2) Convenience Open/Close feature
On my old S202 I had this feature with the IR based opening and closing of all windows by keeping the lock/unlock button depressed on the fob and pointing it at the IR receiver on the drivers door. The W211 has this same looking little 'window' on the door handle but so far I failed to make this work. Is that an optional extra and if yes would it be listed in a VIN decoder and which number would I be looking for. What I mean to ask is how do I find out if my W211 has a defect in the Convenience Open/Close feature or does it actually not have that feature fitted/enabled ?

I am driving a 2005 E 270 CDI Avantgarde

Kind Regards
Jan

The headlamp converter on my 2004 W211 is inside the headlamp cover. Feels like the end of a paper clip up for English down for Europe.

My W211 E320 (2004) won't open/close the windows/sunroof properly using the convenience feature. I have changed the fob batteries several times and there isn't a setting in the convenience menu - the system doesn't work from either 2mm or 2km away! It has worked only once in the last three years of ownership. On my previous W203 C Class I had to replace the sensor in the door, then it worked every time, but it cost almost £70, the part coming direct from Germany, pre-programmed. It's easy to remove, accessing the screws via a small access hole in the edge of the door - you don't need to remove the door card. Hope this helps.
